204 more hospitalised with dengue infection in 24 hours

At least 204 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the 24-hour till 8:00am on Saturday amid the worsening coronavirus situation.

With these, the total number of hospitalised patients reached to 4,319 across the country since January, according to Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

Of the total hospitalised patients in the past 24 hours, 194 were hospitalised in Dhaka and 10 in other divisions.

Among the total hospitalised dengue patients of 4,319 since January, 4,162 patients have been hospitalised in Dhaka.

The DGHS has so far sent the data of 10 suspected dengue deaths to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease, Control and Research for confirmation whether the deaths were due to dengue infections, but the IEDCR is yet to give confirmation, according to the DGHS updated statistics on Saturday.

Some 997 dengue patients, including 958 in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment at 41 government and private hospitals on Saturday.

In seven days in August, 1,661 dengue patients were hospitalised with the spread of the mosquito-borne viral infection amid the increase in Aedes mosquito menace during the monsoon.

A total of 3,312 people have so far recovered from dengue since January, said the DGHS report.

More than 76.68 per cent hospitalised patients were recovered from dengue since January.
